Richard Riddell Invites Students to Talk About the Arts at Duke

Calling all Duke student artists, arts group leaders, and arts majors!

Richard Riddell, Duke’s Senior Vice President and Secretary of the Board of Trustees, is collaborating with duARTS (the umbrella organization for student art groups) to present a conversation about the arts at Duke on Friday, February 14, at 1:30pm (in the Bryan Center at the Center for Multicultural Affairs).

Riddell will lead discussions on how to build a stronger arts culture at Duke, how to build a professional career in the arts, and what Duke’s administration can do to help students with interests in the arts.

Richard Riddell is a Tony Award-winning professional lighting and scene designer, as well as the Mary D.B.T. and James H. Semans Professor of the Practice in Theater Studies. After joining Duke’s faculty in 1992, he led the growth of the Drama Program into what is today the Department of Theater Studies. He has also overseen university-wide interdisciplinary programs and advised the provost on the arts and humanities in his former capacity as Special Assistant to the Provost.
