Part of our “Art and Artists are Essential” collection and invitation.
“It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and like what we do as writers and artists is futile. Try and remember that we have always served essential societal roles. We’re the cultural conscience, mirror, confidante, etc. Time spent meditating and creating isn’t futile at all. To borrow a phrase from a fellow musician: It is spiritual homework. By one perspective, quarantine means we’re all stuck at home. By another, we all finally can give all our time to the people we come home to. This song, which I wrote for my wife, is about truly and without reservation appreciating the people who are important to you. Buy music, books, comic books, and other forms of art if you can. If art is to survive, artists must be able to stay afloat.”—Corbie Hill
