JACK Quartet

December 5 – 8, 2017; February 13-15, 2018; April 24-25, 2018

Made possible, in part, with support from the Department of Music, the Office of the Vice Provost for the Arts at Duke University, and the Aaron Copland Fund for Music.

JACK Quartet, whose members The Boston Globe hailed as “the superheroes of the new music world,” begins its two-year residency at Duke this December with the first of two 2017/18 concerts highlighting contemporary American music for string quartet. Leading up to their December and April performances, and during an additional visit in February, the ensemble will be reading, workshopping, and recording new music by graduate students in Duke’s composition program as part of a joint venture between Duke Performances and the Department of Music, now in its eighth year. During their visits, the members of JACK will also lead master classes with Duke music students and participate in a variety of class visits and conversations across campus.
