Trinity and Pratt students use Creative Arts Grants to fund creative projects that supplement independent study or regular coursework. To celebrate the opening of the 2024-2025 Creative Arts Grants, our new Duke Arts Fellow, Maya Ghanem, spoke with two of last year’s grantees: Ruby Wang (T’ 24), who created a multimedia collage, and Cate Knothe (T’ 24), who wrote, shot, and edited a short film.

In October 2023, Duke Arts wrapped-up “Building Bridges: Muslims in America” with a weekend commemorating the life and legacy of the late Yusuf Salim. The five-year initiative was developed with support from the Doris Duke Foundation and aimed to combat Islamophobia and showcase the diversity within the Muslim community and included residencies of Muslim artists in Durham Public schools, performances, and community events at Duke and in Durham.
