Julia Gartrell is a sculptor and public artist whose work explores material culture, unusual approaches to traditional craft techniques, and Southern storytelling. She runs the Radical Repair Workshop, a traveling project that uses repair as a site of personal narrative and sculptural exploration. Julia received her MFA in sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design. She has participated in residencies at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, The Fine Arts Work Center, Duke University and many more. She has taught at RISD, Duke, and Virginia Commonwealth University and shown nationally and internationally.
