John V. Brown introduces Duke Arts Presents

Vice Provost for the Arts,
John V. Brown

Dear Friends of the Arts,

I write with excitement to share some updates from Duke Arts. We are entering the academic year with a new look and feel that brings to life our evolved approach to presenting world-class performances on campus and in the community, and fulfills our mission to be inclusive to all artistic endeavors.

Duke Performances is now Duke Arts Presents.

Duke Arts Presents is the next chapter for professional presenting at Duke. We will continue Duke Performances’ long tradition of presenting world-class professional dance, music and theater, while adding the best of visual and literary arts. This new identity will better align our current programs, operations and initiatives with the academic mission of the University.

Duke Arts Presents will champion expansive, inclusive and impactful arts programs that deepen the meaningful connections between campus, community and global audiences. This commitment is reflected in our new logo for Duke Arts, which features expansive gateways that invite you to experience, create, and explore the arts with us. We look forward to revealing elements of our new visual identity throughout the fall season.

We invite you to celebrate the launch of Duke Arts Presents at Duke Arts Opening Week, from September 6th – 10th, when we will present an exciting array of events on the Duke campus and beyond. You can check out the schedule at dukearts.org. And stay tuned for our full season announcement on Tuesday, August 22.

This is an exhilarating time for Duke Arts and we want to hear from you. Please send us your questions, concerns, or comments at arts@duke.edu.

I wish you an enjoyable and restful end to summer, and look forward to an exciting and creative season ahead!

Sincerely,

John V. Brown
Vice Provost for the Arts
