Peter Serkin

The fact that the “always impressive” Peter Serkin plays with “surgical precision and infinite subtlety” (NY Times) is hardly a surprise, considering that he distills three generations of world-class musicianship.  His grandfather was violinist Adolf Busch; his father was legendary pianist Rudolf Serkin, who also taught Murray Perahia (10/20) and Anton Kuerti (1/22).  Now 62 and at the height of his art, Serkin appears here in a solo recital, and again, with the Orion String Quartet, on Saturday 2/6.

Brahms: Theme with Variations in D minor
Debussy: Epigraphes Antiques
György Kurtág: Four Pieces from Jatekak
Charles Wuorinen: Scherzo
Bach: Suite in C minor for Lute-Cembalo
Chopin: Impromptu, Op. 29
Chopin: Nocturne Op. 64, No. 2
