Music Maker 25: Lonnie Holley Film Screening at Power Plant Gallery

Film screening with Atlanta-based visual artist and musician Lonnie Holley featuring The Man is the Music, directed by Maris Curran, and I Snuck Off the Slave Ship, directed by Lonnie Holley and Cyrus Moussavi. The screenings will be followed by Q&A with Lonnie Holley and Matt Arnett, producer and screenwriter for I Snuck Off the Slave Ship.

The Man is the Music draws us into Lonnie Holley’s imaginative and captivating world. While in I Snuck Off the Slave Ship Lonnie Holley, a “self-taught African American artist” and dimensional traveler, attempts to sneak off the slave ship America. This screening coincides with Duke Performances’ Music Maker 25, a weeklong music series and exhibition in downtown Durham celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Music Maker Relief Foundation.

A light lunch will be served after the screening. This is a first come, first seated event. Please plan to arrive early to secure your seat. Doors open at 11:45am.
