More InfoPlease join novelists JP Gritton and Mesha Maren on Wednesday, January 22nd from 3:30 to 5:00 PM in Allen 314 for a workshop and lecture on the theme of GETTING STARTED. A collaboration of Duke Arts Create, the Duke Writers Collective, and the Department of English, these once-a-month workshops bring writers from around the Triangle to Duke for 90-minute lectures on the craft. Using a quartet of brief readings as a jumping-off point, Professors Maren and Gritton will speak on the agony and ecstasy of putting down the first words of a story, chapter, or poem. Light refreshments served.

More InfoDuke Arts Create is a series of free, hands-on arts workshops designed to help all Duke students, including graduate and professional students (including Duke Health), as well as Duke faculty and staff develop a variety of creative skills in the visual arts, dance and movement, creative writing and more. Workshops are open to all skill levels and backgrounds. Most workshops are held in the Duke Arts Annex, the Rubenstein Arts Center or the Duke Arts Office 2101 and are typically held weeknights from 6-8 p.m.
