Talking Music: A Conversation with Edgar Meyer
Acclaimed bassist and composer Edgar Meyer, praised by The New Yorker as “the most remarkable virtuoso in the relatively un-chronicled history of his instrument,” arrives in Durham to perform his String Quintet, encompassing bluegrass, jazz, and classical styles, as featured guest with Duke’s Ciompi Quartet on their 50th Anniversary concert. The day prior, Duke’s Vice President for Public Affairs and Government Relations, Michael Schoenfeld, a former colleague of Meyer’s at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, chats with Meyer on his music and wide-ranging career.
