###
Trained in the classical world, Aaron Diehl is celebrated for his elite standard of playing across genres and his joyous approach to interpretation. Dubbed the “Real Diehl” by jazz virtuoso Wynton Marsalis, Diehl won the American Pianists Association’s Cole Porter Fellowship in 2011, and has since played with the New York Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Cleveland Orchestra.
At his Duke Performances solo recital debut, Diehl will perform an opulent program that situates an exciting collection of twentieth century music from the classical and jazz idioms. In a program brimming with canonical composers, Diehl will play from a repertoire that spans Bach and Diehl’s own contemporary works, touching upon Willie “The Lion” Smith, William Grant Still, and Mary Lou Williams along the way.
