Give paper-weaving a go with this quick tutorial from Duke Arts Team member Anna Wallace below! Turn your old papers into something fresh—laminate your creation to use as a placemat or frame it as wall decor.
1. Source your paper. Try to find different colors and patterns to create visual variety.
(In the video tutorial, you’ll see we use an old Duke Arts Presents program)
2. Cut all pages into roughly 1-inch-wide strips
3. Arrange a few strips in a column
4. Weave strips together using an over-under pattern
5. Use small amounts of glue or tape to hold paper in place
6. Enjoy your abstract paper weaving
