About the Workshop

This workshop-style hip-hop dance class will cover some bold and fiery choreography while providing a space to be confident, practice dance technique, learn new performance skills, get a good workout and have fun! Issa vibe!

Open to all skill levels. Wear comfortable clothes and sneakers and bring water.

About the Instructor

Ife Presswood, Duke MFA in Dance student and instructor for "Ballet for All Bodies."

Ife Michelle is a native of Charlotte, NC whose dance training started at age 7 at the North Carolina Performing Arts Academy and continued through college in the dance programs of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Fayetteville State University. She is currently a student in Duke’s MFA program.

Ife has danced with multiple companies including KOFFEE Modern Dance Company, DialeKt Pre-Professional Dance Company, SHAE Movement African Arts and 4Thirty-Two Hip-Hop Company, where she also served as a choreographer. She currently runs her own dance company, Ife Michelle Dance, which aims to expand the representation of body types and identities in the professional dance world.

About Duke Arts Create

Duke Arts Create is a series of free, hands-on arts workshops designed to help all Duke students, including graduate and professional students (including Duke Health), as well as Duke faculty and staff develop a variety of creative skills in the visual arts, dance and movement, creative writing and more. Workshops are open to all skill levels and backgrounds. Most workshops are held in the Duke Arts Annex, the Rubenstein Arts Center or the Duke Arts Office 2101 and are typically held weeknights from 6-8 p.m.
