Sampling for Producers

Partnership with Duke Arts Create & DuWell

Taught by Brooks Frederickson

About the Workshop

The sixth in a series of workshops designed to increase understanding around the theoretical fundamentals of electronic music, this workshop will address the following questions:

  • What’s is sampling?
  • How do I create and work with samples?
  • Why use sampling?
  • How do I turn sampling into a creative process?

Producers are encouraged to follow along their DAW of choice (Ableton, Logic, Garageband, Reaper, Pro Tools). Examples will be pulled from current hits from indie, pop, EDM, and hip-hop. No prior music theory background or experience needed, all are welcome!
