Photoshop 101

Taught by Kate Auger

About the Workshop

In this workshop, expect to familiarize yourself with Photoshop’s interface, learn how to crop and resize images, utilize layer masking, and navigate adjustment layers to edit and manipulate images. These skills are just the beginning of the limitless possibilities Photoshop can offer. Participants are encouraged to bring their own photos to work from, or follow along with a supplied photo.

Note: Photoshop must be installed prior to this workshop. Duke students can download the software for free under the Adobe Creative Cloud link here. Faculty and staff can download a free trail of the software here.

About the Instructor

Kate Auger is a graduate of NC State College of Design, and is currently pursuing her MFA in Experimental and Documentary Arts at Duke. As a second-year student, she is working on her thesis which follows her own family and environmental trauma of her home at the beach in Brunswick County, North Carolina.

With six years of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign experience, she shifted her skills working from graphic design and product rendering to photo and video editing. She is excited to teach the same skills that opened up her world to documentary and design.

About the Location

This workshop will meet online via Zoom. See link at top of page.
