Make Simple 3D Models With Fusion360

Partnership with Duke Arts Create & Co-Lab Roots

Taught by Chip Bobbert

About the Workshop

roots

This class will focus on the learning basic modeling concepts using the Fusion360 tool.  Fusion360 is a powerful and emerging tool in the modeling business that combines features found in tools targeted toward many different 3D industries.  This “many features in one tool” approach makes it a great Swiss Army Knife for general 3D practitioners.  In this class we will focus on the basic interface and create solid models through several exercises including designing our own Machinists Cube, a classic “Hello World” project. The class will also cover multi-part assemblies by modeling a simple box with sliding lid.

About the Instructor

Chip founded and currently manages the CoLab Studios. Outside of his role as a technology operationalist, he maintains a passion for students and research. He has been teaching 3D modeling and media applications for fifteen years as well as consulting for numerous entities on engineering level media project. Chip holds an MSEd and has maintained a strong interest in adapting traditional teaching theory to current technological shifts. He spent his youth in the machine shop of his family’s business that led to a lifelong passion for building. To this day, you’ll never find him far from a hammer and saw.

About the Location

The TEC (Technology Engagement Center) Classroom is in the Telcom Building. To get there, just walk down the stairs from Perkins/Bostock like you’re heading towards CIEMAS. When you get to the road halfway down, make a right and Telcom is the building ahead of you to the left. The Technology Engagement Center is the first floor, so just enter in the front of the building. The classroom is to the right of the entrance, adjacent to the center circular room.
