Blackout Poetry

About the Workshop

In this class, we’ll practice deconstructing a text to create new meaning with the pieces. We’ll have books you can use, or you can bring something of your own to work with. Need to pursue catharsis through rewording old class materials, maybe?
About the instructor

Shelbi Polk is a writer and artist who has been embroidering since her childhood in Texas. She studied literature and actually gets to use that knowledge, both in her freelance writing career and in her fiber arts practice, where she creates works that draw on her love of ancient archetypes. Shelbi moved to North Carolina for a fellowship at the News & Observer in 2018, and she’s been haunting Durham coffee shops ever since.
