About the Workshop

In this workshop you’ll create a design by stamping or drawing into clay using materials from nature, creating texture and learning basic slab building technique as you go. It’s your choice to make a wall hanging or a vessel. By the end of this workshop, participants will have finished pieces drying in the ceramics room to be fired!

About the Instructor

Morgan Riker is a mixed media artist based in Durham. She has a Bachelor’s or Fine Arts from the University of Tulsa in printmaking, ceramics, and photography. You can find her in Durham selling copper and ceramic jewelry and air plant sculptures at Art Market Durham next to the farmers Market on Saturday’s or teaching kids and adults at ArtPost.

About Duke Arts Create

Duke Arts Create is a series of free, hands-on arts workshops designed to help all Duke students, including graduate and professional students (including Duke Health), as well as Duke faculty and staff develop a variety of creative skills in the visual arts, dance and movement, creative writing and more. Workshops are open to all skill levels and backgrounds. Most workshops are held in the Duke Arts Annex, the Rubenstein Arts Center or the Duke Arts Office 2101 and are typically held weeknights from 6-8 p.m.
