Echoes of Atlantis

About the Project

I received funding to create Echoes of Atlantis: A Myth Reimagined in Santorini, a short experimental documentary exploring how the myth of Atlantis continues to shape cultural memory, identity, and our anxieties about collapse in the modern world. The grant supported essential expenses including travel to Santorini, site access for filming at Akrotiri and other archaeological locations, equipment rentals, and post-production costs such as editing and sound design.

The work went very well. I was able to spend time on location capturing both the ancient ruins and the rhythms of modern daily life on the island, balancing archaeological textures with dreamlike cinematography. Conversations with local residents and historians added depth to the film, while sound design and editing allowed me to weave together a poetic meditation on impermanence and memory. The support made it possible to realize a project that was ambitious in scope but deeply personal in vision, and it significantly advanced both my artistic and professional aspirations as a filmmaker.
