Imani Winds

September 26 – 30, 2022

Made possible, in part, with support from the Mary Duke Biddle Foundation and Duke Department of Music.

Celebrating over two decades of musical trailblazing, Imani Winds remains dedicated to adding new, diverse voices to the wind quartet repertoire. In September 2022, Imani rejoin Duke Performances as ensemble-in-residence for the culminating performance of their four-semester residency, featuring two newly commissioned pieces exploring themes of immigration and diaspora. In the week leading up to the performance, the ensemble will visit Durham School of the Arts, offer a master class for Duke undergraduates, and give a free lecture/demonstration co-sponsored by Durham-based afterschool program KidZnotes.
