JoRose Burwell

Born in Durham NC, the apex of the center of the universe (and the American South) JoRose is a shiny, diasporic, queer professional actor whose passion for storytelling transcends conventional boundaries. With a journey beginning on humble the stages of Durham Public Schools, she has since studied and stretched her work to a point where the art of performance was not only a well-tuned craft but a means of self-discovery and liberation. As an aerialist and burlesque producer, she aims to soar beyond the ordinary, blending gravity-defying artistry with provocative, soulful narratives that celebrate freedom, individuality, and the inherent beauty of difference. As an actor she embraces every role with unwavering commitment, drawing on her own heritage and lived experience to inspire and empower others. Through each performance, she challenges societal norms and ignites conversations about identity, love, and the transformative power of art. To Jo, burlesque is not just entertainment—it is the art of liberation, a vibrant expression of resistance and self-empowerment. She continuously explores new creative heights, fusing traditional performance with innovative techniques that captivate audiences worldwide. And ALWAYS evolving.
