Deadline: April 12 at 5pm
Sponsored by the Mary Duke Biddle Foundation and the Trent A. and Susan L. Carmichael Fund, each year the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University awards a maximum of four summer museum internships for Duke University Undergraduates with career interests in art and museum work.
These awards are available to assist with living costs during internships at major art museums in the United States or abroad (up to $3000), or at the Nasher Museum of Art (up to $2000).
Students seeking an award to support an internship at another institution must secure that position prior to applying to the Nasher Museum for funding. Past interns have worked at museums such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
For this summer 2019, Nasher internships are available in the Business + Operations and Development departments (see attached for descriptions).
Applicants must submit the following materials:
- A cover letter outlining the goals of the museum internship and how the internship will further the student’s career plans
- A short resume
- A budget of projected expenses and other sources of financial support
- Applications for grants to support internships at other institutions must include a statement of acceptance from the institution granting the internship (not needed for students applying for a Nasher Museum Internship)
All application materials must be submitted to: ellen.raimond@duke.edu.
