Whether you have a question about one of Duke’s many study in programs, you are looking for advice for arts-based project funding, or want to talk to a peer about picking a major, these students are here for you.
The students below are all Creative Arts Student Team members who help to grow the arts culture at Duke and beyond. They are a diverse group from varying fields and interests working collaboratively within the arts—in addition to being CAST members, they are also often involved in other student groups and are all-around good resources. All CASTs can be reached through email and are more than welcome to answer your questions.
Omolola Sanusi is a junior majoring in Literature with a concentration in Film and Media studies, pursing certificates in AMI and Decision Sciences. She is interested in film/video production, writing, storytelling and academic research on social behavior. She has been a part of the CAST program since sophomore year and has always been actively part of the arts at Duke. You can usually catch her in the Ruby doing some kind of workshop, at the Latinx center studying, trying to schedule a meeting in WU, or at Goodson Chapel rehearsing with her beloved African choir group, Amandla!

Annie is a current senior majoring in Psychology with a Markets & Management Certificate and a French minor. Originally from Dover, MA, she is an avid fan of everything New England—cold weather, Boston accents, and the Patriots. While at Duke, you can catch her hanging out with friends on the BC plaza, tenting outside for basketball games, or experimenting in the Arts Annex! She has been a CAST since the opening of the Ruby (!) and loved seeing how the arts on Duke has grown since her first year.

Sharon is a senior from Forsyth, GA, majoring in Global Cultural Studies in Literature, minoring in Theater Studies, and earning a certificate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. She enjoys acting, singing, dancing, reading, and creative writing. She loves showing off the exciting arts scene at Duke and talking to new or prospective students about ways to get involved according to their artistic interests. After graduation, Sharon plans to pursue careers in acting and theater management in New York.

Casey is a senior majoring in International Comparative Studies with a focus on Latin America. She enjoys practicing her Spanish and developing her understanding of the globalized and digitized world through her academic studies. She is also interested in marketing, business, and content creation in media industries, as well as creating opportunities in which diverse writing and storytelling can shine. She absolutely loves the relationships, knowledge, and skills she has gained as a CAST from supporting Duke Arts platforms on social media, content development, student outreach, and interviews.

Sarah is a sophomore from Greenville, SC, and home is currently in Charlotte, NC! She is studying visual & media studies and economics and hopes to work in the creative industries after graduation. She joined Duke Arts because she loves engaging with the creativity happening on and off-campus and connecting with people in the arts community. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, hanging out with friends, and baking!

Joyce is a sophomore from New Jersey majoring in Environmental Sciences and Policy with a minor in Visual & Media Studies and Psychology. She is interested in graphic design, writing, and just started learning photography! Joyce is the chair of the DUU VisArts committee this year and is super passionate about supporting the visual arts on campus. She is also interested in finding an intersection between the environment/sustainability and the arts.

Kennedy is a senior from Tampa, FL, studying Public Policy and Visual Media Studies. As a Content Creator with Duke Arts, she aims to show the diversity in how the arts are experienced within the Duke community. She believes storytelling is one of the most powerful ways to connect people and foster a greater sense of empathy towards those with experiences that we may not be able to conceptualize otherwise. Following graduation, she aims to pursue a career in entertainment with a focus on directing and media production within the music industry.

Autumn is a junior from New York pursuing a Program II degree (Creative Arts as Treatment in Health). She enjoys music, dance, and theater and is in the arts scene at Duke through the a cappella group, Deja Blue, and the student-run theater organization, Hoof ‘n’ Horn. She loves to talk to new and prospective students about the arts community at Duke, as well as how you can pursue interdisciplinary studies. After graduation, she plans to go to medical school. She will always love the intersection that the arts has with STEM, and it will always inform her work.
