These outdoor concerts are free, no registration is needed, and masks are required. Bring a chair, a blanket, and visit pop-ups by Parker & Otis, Boricua Soul, and Mellow Mushroom for drinks and dinner. The amphitheater is the grassy area below the Lucky Strike water tower and parking is available in one of three nearby decks. Concerts are weather permitting, with notice of cancellation announced online and via social on the day of the event.

Skylar Gudasz’s signature structured lilt is crisp enough to cut a soft evening breeze and tender enough to mimic it. Performing from an upstairs window at the Carolina Theatre on Halloween last year, she filled the downtown airwaves with the celestial noir of her lauded sophomore release, Cinema: “Like the sun, I get down / Drape the day in a midnight black gown.” In this outdoor performance, expect to hear samples of the next sonic shape-shift for this Durham stalwart singer-songwriter-storyteller, who’s often likened to a southeastern-seaboard Joni Mitchell.
