The ferociously talented Wu Han (piano) joins one half of the Emerson String Quartet — violinist Philip Setzer and cellist David Finckel — to form an ideal piano trio, one organized with the express purpose of exploring these two Schubert masterpieces. Soulful and melodic, both works were finished in the last year of Schubert’s short life. Of the opus 100, fellow Romantic Schumann said that it had passed “across the ordinary musical life of the day like some angry manifestation in the heavens.”
“We pay tribute to the genius of Schubert, and share with listeners our joy in making music together.”
— David Finckel, cello
