Join acclaimed choreographer and Mark Morris alum John Heginbotham (Dance Heginbotham) for a dance class designed to benefit those with Parkinson’s disease. The class is offered in collaboration with American Dance Festival (ADF) as part of its new Parkinson’s Movement Initiative and assumes no formal training in dance. First-time participants welcome!
In Dance for PD® classes, participants are empowered to explore movement and music in ways that are refreshing, enjoyable, stimulating and creative. John Heginbotham was a member of the Mark Morris Dance Group from 1998 to 2012. In 2011, he founded Dance Heginbotham, a Brooklyn-based performance group devoted to the presentation of his dance and theatrical work. He is also active as a freelance choreographer and educator; he is on the faculty of Dartmouth College and is a founding teacher of Dance for PD®. danceheginbotham.org
Heginbotham’s Principles of Uncertainty, an evening-length work of dance and theater inspired by Maira Kalman’s 2007 book, comes to Duke’s Reynolds Industries Theater on Friday, March 23 and Saturday, March 24. More information available HERE.
