March 11, 2020: Important Notice Regarding American Ballet Theatre

Dear Friends,

Due to precautionary measures related to COVID-19, Duke University is postponing all events with an expected attendance of more than 50 people taking place both on- and off-campus.

We are needing to postpone our presentations of American Ballet Theatre’s Giselle from Thursday, March 26 through Sunday, March 29. We plan to reschedule this very special engagement to a future date to be determined and will be in touch once these dates are confirmed.

Most affected ticket buyers who purchased using a credit card should see a credit appear on the charge card account used for purchase within the next 2-3 weeks. This automatic refund includes those that purchased tickets online or by phone with DPAC or Ticketmaster, or in person using a credit card at The Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina Ticket Center at DPAC.

If you purchased with cash, please return to the Ticket Center to obtain a refund.

For more information, please email DPAC at customerservice@dpacnc.com.

We thank you for your support of Duke Performances and hope you will attend our future presentations.

Until then we wish good health for you and your loved ones as we endure this unprecedented challenge.

With best wishes,

Scott Lindroth
Vice Provost for the Arts
Duke University

Eric Oberstein
Interim Director
Duke Performances

American Ballet Theatre (ABT) was founded in the fall of 1939 with dual aims of developing a repertoire of the best ballets from the past and supporting the creation of new works by gifted young choreographers. 80 years later, ABT is one of the world’s preeminent classical ballet companies, a world-touring ambassador for the art form, a committed choreographic commissioner, and an energetic leader in ballet education and outreach. All of these qualities animate Duke’s historic three-year institutional collaboration with ABT; the partnership’s centerpiece is a run of performances by ABT’s Main Company at DPAC of the romantic masterwork Giselle, an engrossing tale of unrequited love that fuses music, movement, and drama. This unmissable engagement also marks a watershed moment in statewide arts presenting: this is the first visit to North Carolina by ABT in 50 years.
