Duets: Conversations Between Creators and Performers

Duke Alumni Forever Learning Institute
Higher Education Music Theater & Performing Arts

Transcendent. Emotional. Spiritual. These are all words that some may use to describe their reaction after seeing a performance by a musician, dancer, or actor. But what happens before the performance can embody all those qualities as well. Join us for a series of conversations between creators and performers as they talk about the relationship between the two roles, and how they translate emotional reactions into what we hear and see on stage and screen.

Moderated by John V. Brown, Vice Provost for the Arts, featuring:

  • Michael Betts II, MFA EDA ’20, Assistant Director of Programs, Masters of Fine Arts in Experimental and Documentary Arts
  • Anthony Kelley, Associate Professor of the Practice, Department of Music
  • Phil Rupprecht, Professor, Department of Music
  • Ava LaVonne Vinesett, Professor of the Practice, Dance Program
  • Sarah Wilbur, Assistant Professor of the Practice, Dance Program
  • Mike Wiley, Instructor, Center for Documentary Studies
