Curious what it’s like to sell a script to a studio and be a staff writer in Hollywood? Two of the leading young tv/film writers, Haley Z. Boston and Roy Parker, join us for a panel discussion on how they have made their careers as writers in this new age of streaming and direct-to-consumer content, their upcoming projects, and an outlook on the industry after COVID-19. Fuqua MES Co-President Peter Oesterle MBA ‘21is the event’s moderator.

Haley Z. Boston

Film/TV Writer

Haley Z. Boston is a film/TV writer from Portland, OR. She’s currently developing an original horror show with Warner Bros. and John Wells producing. She also currently serves as Co-Producer on THE SON, an HBO limited series created by Lenore Zion, produced by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy with Jake Gyllenhaal starring and Denis Villeneuve directing. Before that, she wrote an episode of Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming horror anthology series 10 After Midnight (Netflix). And before that, she was Executive Story Editor on Hunters (Amazon) and Staff Writer on Brand New Cherry Flavor (Netflix). She’s currently writing a horror movie for Searchlight starring Peter Dinklage.

Roy Parker

Film Writer

Roy Parker is a graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts with a degree in Writing for Screen & Television. He started his career in Hollywood working at such places as Team Downey, Studio 8, and Netflix. His comedic horror script The House Is Not For Sale was featured on the 2019 edition of The Black List and is currently has Lorenzo di Bonaventura producing. His feminist slasher script Slash Her was featured on the 2019 edition of The Hit List and currently has Ivan Reitman producing. Last year he was hired to write a feature adaptation of the 90s television show Wishbone for Universal. He recently moved to Pasadena, California and does not recommend moving during a pandemic.
