Adam Chodikoff ’93, senior producer for “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” and America’s leading “investigative humorist,” will give the keynote address to kick off DEMAN Weekend, the annual celebration of Duke alumni and students in entertainment, media and the arts.
Presented by the Duke Alumni Association in cooperation with the Office of the Vice Provost for the Arts, DEMAN Weekend features workshops, panels, screenings and networking sessions that allow students to meet and learn from alumni in arts-related industries. The events take place on Nov. 1-2 and serve as the close of the 2013 Duke Arts Festival. The weekend’s events begin with Chodikoff’s keynote at 1 p.m. In the Bryan Center’s Reynolds Industries Theater.
A veteran of “The Daily Show” since its inception in 1996, Chodikoff now serves as “the facts and information guy” on the show, which entails everything from pitching ideas to prepping for interviews to finding soundbites that accompany the show’s satiric takes on the news. Dubbed “an investigative humorist” by the Washington Post, he describes his role as operating a “battering ram of facts” to help drive home the show’s arguments. You can read more about Chodikoff in a 2009 Duke Magazine story.
Chodikoff will share with students experiences at Duke that shaped him, such as “the searing pain of getting soundly defeated by UNLV in the 1990 Final Four,” which he says helped prepare him emotionally for losing an Emmy to “The Colbert Report.”
