Dear members of the Duke arts community,
In order to minimize health and safety risks from COVID-19 to our patrons, the larger community, and Duke students, faculty, and staff, Duke University has adopted new policies on spring semester classes, residential life, travel, events, and campus visitors. In keeping with the university’s directives, we are cancelling (or postponing) university-sponsored on- and off-campus arts events with an expected attendance of 50 or more people through April 20 May 7 (3/13/2020 update). This includes Duke Performances offerings; the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival; events at arts venues including the Nasher Museum of Art, the Center for Documentary Studies, and the Rubenstein Arts Center; and programs presented by departments and student groups.
The arts are best experienced in community with one another, and I know this pause on our regular arts programming will be a challenging experience—but your safety is Duke’s top priority. Art is also a balm for the soul during uncertain times. Destinations including the Nasher Museum of Art, Duke Gardens, and Duke Chapel are now closed for visitors (3/13/2020 update).
